Naturally, the third book came first, then the second, with a dreadfully long lag before the first one showed up just a few days ago. She was a prolific writer in her long career: twenty-six novels for adults, fourteen stories for children, four plays, two mysteries, as well as numerous short stories. Margery wrote a trilogy of sorts between 19: The Eye of Love, Martha in Paris, and Martha, Eric and George. Early years and education Clara Margery Melita Sharp was born in Salisbury in January 1905 to Yorkshire-born couple Clara and John Sharp. She is best known for her books for children, but she also wrote for adults. Margery Sharp (1905-1991) was the best-selling writer, playwright and screenwriter of adult and children’s whimsical fiction who inspired the box office busting Disney film ‘The Rescuers’. Margery Sharp was born in 1905, and died in 1991.
